Description: The zinc requirement for growing calves is 40 ppm but this animal received only 3 ppm Zn in its ration. Note the parakeratosis on the legs, which is worse just above the hooves, with scabs and poorly developed hair. Feed intake and rate of gain would also have been reduced.
