For the well being of stalled horses, USDA guidelines recommend 12 ft x 12 ft stalls. There is also a formula to increase the size of the stall with the weight of the horse. Kick boards should be made of hard wood to prevent horses from kicking through the stall wall. Horses should never be exposed to sheet metal at kicking range. The bedding shown is wood shavings.
