Riboflavin deficiency in the rat. Upper left image - deficiency has generated dermatitis and growth failure, with a keratitis of the cornea. The dermatitis appears as reddened skin, and hair loss on the legs and around the mouth and nose. This may appear on other parts of the body. The corneal keratitis is associated with increased vascularization (infiltration of blood vessels) of the cornea. Upper right image - same rat after one month of riboflavin therapy. Lower right - after two months of treatment there are no signs of former ocular and skin lesions.
