Fissures at the corners of the mouth with stomatitis (inflammation) of the oral mucosa indicating a riboflavin deficiency.  The lips are made pale by desguamating epithelium and are sometimes ulcerated.   Also, a glossitis may occur in which the tongue becomes magenta in color and has irregular areas of denudation.
