This holding pen for cows entering a milking parlor typified systems in the 1980's. Cows in this holding pen are crowded toward the milking parlor (background) with the crowd gate in the foreground. A floor spray near the parlor wets and partially cleans udders before cows enter parlor. As the nearest cows move from pen into parlor, the crowd gate gradually moves forward automatically to encourage the remaining cows into the parlor. The same pen is shown nearly empty in NAL #3398.
