Head of a Guernsey fetal giant at 12 months of pregnancy.  The bump on the drosal surface between the eyes and the nostrils was shown to be a cerebral hernia.  While the pituitary gland appeared to be normal, the brain was defective.  The evidence suggests that the fetus failed to initiate parturition at 9 months of pregnancy (term) because of a defective hypothalamic/pituitary axis
