Description: These reproductive organs from a cow at about 45 days of gestation included three corpora lutea (CL), suggestive of triplets. The asymmetry of the uterine horns that normally serves as an early indication of pregnancy is lost because of the multiple conceptuses. Transrectal palpation of amnionic vesicles can confirm this represents a pregnancy, not other uterine fluids representing a pathological condition. Twins or triplets can be confirmed by the palpation of two or three amniotic vesicles. Twins and especially triplets are not preferred because they are small at birth and because female partners with males usually are freemartins.
