Blood from the uterus evident on the cervix and in the vagina.  The amount of postestrual hemorrhage varies considerably and is usually observed as a  vaginal discharge about 48 hours after the onset of estrus in about 60% of heifers and 40% of cows.  It indicates only that the animal was in estrus about 2 days earlier.
