Cystic endometrial hyperplasia may develop after chronic exposure to estrogens such as phytoestrogens. It may also be a sequela to chronic cystic ovarian follicules or granulosa cell tumors. In this slaughterhouse specimen, both uterine horns have been opened to show the hyperplastic endometrial cysts; four are labeled Cy. Histology is required to differentiate endometrial cysts from lymphatic cysts.
