Cattle had overgrazed this pasture and the remaining vegetation consisted of weeds. Native rangelands are resilient but drought and overgrazing can result in lowered productivity and increase the likelihood weeds and other undesirable plants will invade the landscape. Proper management in these situations calls for reducing stocking rate and allowing the plants to recover.
