Mr. John (Rockefeller) Prentice owned six AI organizations across the US from the mid-1940's.  On the basis of development of frozen semen, much done by his staff, he consolidated his organizations to form American Breeders Service (DeForrest, WI).  In 1953, he underwrote the development of a stainless steel vacuum container to store semen at -196°C.  Circa 1953.
