Cattle are electrically stunned by passing an electric current from the neck stanchion to an electrode that presses against the nose. The white strip is plastic that insulates the neck electrode from the steel head holder. To contact the nose a lift raises up the head and a flat metal plate is pushed against the nose. Both electrodes are continously wetted with water.
