Description: This .zip file contains 20 images of normal and abnormal human sperm. All are scanned from the collection of 35 mm Ektachrome slides given to the Animal Science Image Gallery by Dr. Robert H. Foote (see NAL 4731). They were all taken with an optical microscope at a magnification of 1250x. Images 1-10 are as scanned except a scale mark of approximately 5um has placed on the image. Images 1a-10a are identical except labels have been placed on the images. The darker region of the sperm head is the acrosome. Individual slide descriptions are as follows: 1. Normal human spermatozoon 2. Abnormal spermatozoon with round head 3. Abnormal spermatozoon with a bent midpiece 4. Abnormal spermatozoon with a bent tail 5. Abnormal spermatozoon with a coiled tail 6. Abnormal spermatozoon with a broken neck 7. Headless tail and tailless head 8. Abnormal spermatozoon with a tapered head 9.
