Constituting the principal breed in Romania, they are used for milk, meat and coarse wool often used for oriental carpets. Mature rams average about 70 kg bodyweight; mature ewes nearly 50 kg; lambs about 3.5 kg at birth and 30 kg at 150 days of age. All rams and half of ewes are horned.
