Description: Chisel plows have teeth to penetrate to depths up to 18 inches, while mold board plows (NAL #4789 and 4791) typically cut furrows only 6 to 8 inches deep. Unlike mold board plows, chisel plows do not turn the soil over, thereby leaving most residual vegetation on the surface. Rippers (NAL # 4794 and #4795) are an alternative to chisel plows. All plows and rippers facilitate penetration of rainfall and plant growth, especially in compacted soils. These types of equipment typified those used commercially in the US in 2005.
