Description: This image is a microscopic examination of heart muscle from a calf that died from white muscle disease brought on by a deficiency of dietary selenium. A cross section examination of the heart muscle revealed dark dots, inflammatory cells responding to dead heart muscle, in addition to normal, pink muscle fibers.
