Front view of cows facing out in a tie stall barn of the type found in northern dairy areas of the United States in the 1970's. NAL #4570 shows a rear view of the cows in the same barn. Maternity pens were located at the far end, the barn had tunnel ventilation, the principal illumination was florescent lights, the bedding was wood shavings, and manure was removed with a gutter cleaner. The cows were milked in a parlor. NAL #3380, #3383, #3384, and #4572 illustrate the variety of tie stall barns during that period.
