Abnormal hoof growth in sheep and goats often ocurrs when the animals are held continuously on a soft footing such as a manure pack.  It is usualy prevented by more abrasive footing surfaces.  Most abnormal toe growth in sheep and goats such as that shown here can be corrected by trimming.
